Just another manic monday The overly colored florescent lighting and checkered floor pattern. They all screamed 50's, right down to the vinyl covered booth seats and the jukebox in the corner playing a variety of songs that were popular within that time era. Granted the diner wasn't the teenager's ideal place to work, but Claire had to admit that the word was steady and the pay was reasonable. Especially considering that she was only working part-time and this was just to go into her collect fund and then after that, hopefully culinary school. Her blue eyes scanned the dinner, taking in the few costumers they had, it wasn't the lunch hour just yet, but that would be coming soon and then things would start to pick up. As for right now, it was relatively quiet. Claire's gaze flickered over to the jukebox as an old Frank Sinatra song flipped into play and she gave a small sigh -having heard the song dozens of times-. The urge to go over there and change the song was great, but she left it alone, preferring to grab the coffee pot and see if anyone wanted a refill along the counter area. This day was one of the blonde's longer ones, as she had left from school an hour or so earlier and made her way home to change out of her school clothes, take a quick shower and head to the diner. The youth has come to the conclusion that she has very little, next to no social life because of certain circumstances. When it comes to saving up for both college and culinary school, that doesn't leave much room for socializing with friends. Although she tries to fit in time to study and hang out on her days off, that usually results in her falling asleep somewhere. That never turned into a good day out. There were times when the teen contemplated taking on another job, but her mother wouldn't hear of it. After all, Claire was only seventeen, the last thing Amelia wanted was for her daughter to loose out on her teenage years. Although, the extra money that the youth brought in was helpful, she wouldn't allow her to take a second job. She was allowed to stay young as young as possible. Claire finished her rounds of refills and turned her gaze up toward the clock, it would be lunch hour in ten minutes. The youth gave a small sigh as she grabbed a stack of menus and proceeded toward the front entrance, greeting the first couple that walked in with a smile and escorted them to their booth. From the looks of it, this lunch hour wouldn't be as bad as previous ones, where the blonde had so many orders and tables to keep up with that it made her head spin. She handed out the menus with the same smile, introduced herself and took their drink orders before leaving to the kitchen to grab them before glancing out over the diner once again. The glasses were quickly filled and taken over to the waiting costumers. The lunch hour quickly shifted into the dinner hour and slowly the costumers became fewer and fewer until the young teen found herself lounging in one of the vacant booths, her elbow resting on the table as she stretched her legs out before her along the vinyl of the seat. Her cheek rested against the knuckles of her hand as she found herself dozing off slightly, the ring of the bell over the door the only thing managing to jerk her from her light slumber as she turned to see who had entered. Trying to find Dean again was easier said than done. Belial had heard that he was still in Chicago, but that had been a few days ago and knowing the hunter as he did, Bel knew that he could be long gone already. That hadn't stopped him from poking around, though, if only because the area did have a bit to offer. Death was a rather large fan of the place and if the stingy horseman was into it, Bel could see himself being pretty into it, too. The food, if nothing else, was interesting enough to try a few times.
After a long day of wandering and trying to pick up a trail on Dean, Belial decided - thanks to the ruthless pestering from the voice in the back of his mind - to grab a bite to eat. The nearest place just happened to be a diner with a decidedly retro 50's motif, which was less than appealing visually (at least to Bel) but offered much of interest to his other senses.
The quiet tone of old rock and roll in the background was calming as he stepped through the doors, looking up at the jingling bell above the door as he made his way into the restaurant, his mouth watering on principle and the scent filling his nose. He could hear the sizzle of fryers and a grill in the kitchen, dull in comparison to the clink of porcelain plates and plastic cups.
He lingered by the hostess podium a moment before noticing a tiny blonde girl looking more than a little exhausted in one of the booths. She was the only one around, so far as Bel could see, and judging by her clothes it could be assumed she worked there. He smiled politely at her and ran a hand through his hair. "Sorry to interrupt naptime," He said as cordially as possible. "I know it's late and you guys are probably close to closing, but I was wondering if there was any way I could get a bite to eat." He fished his wallet out of his pocket, as if to say 'I have money!' a surefire testament to just how not human he really was. If anything, maybe the thick accent of his meatsuit would make her think that he was just a weird foreigner with no idea how America worked.
She wouldn't be entirely wrong, really.

Just another manic monday It was the accent that hit her first, a signal that the young man before her was not a native born American, but just what his nationality was she couldn't be sure. Claire's head tilted to one side, her mind silently working the problem over within her mind. There was a possibility that he was British, the accent sounded British after all, or maybe Scottish. But that guess was quickly thrown out as the accent was not a thick as the Scottish and had a more sing-song effect to it. It then hit her; Irish. Of course, the gentle Irish accent that rolled very much like the emerald hills of the Irish countryside. As she was mulling this all over, it suddenly occurred to her that the male was speaking, Claire quickly blinked out of her silent daydream and quickly sat up within the booth. "Oh! right, uhm..." In a flustered state, the youth pushed herself from the booth, brushing down the skirt of her waitress uniform and quickly standing up before him. It looked young, at least from a first glance he did, probably not that much older then she was. That alone didn't shock her all to much, some of the students from her high school often wandered their way into the diner for lunch or an early dinner if they had too. That simply thought caused her to wonder if he was perhaps a student, but a student out this late greatly confused the blonde. "Here" Claire motioned toward the booth that had been her makeshift bed just a few moments prior an drive a slightly embarrassed smile. "Sorry, it's been a long day" The youth laughed softly as she turned and headed back to the hostess station, snatching up a menu and a set of silverware before making her way back to the booth and setting them down. "So, can I get you something to drink? or do you already know what you'd like to order?" The blonde gave a friendly smile as she spoke, fingers diving into her pocket and fishing around a moment before retrieving her pad and pen to jot down any order he might already have in mind. For a moment Bel thought something might be wrong with the girl. She'd stared almost blankly at him for a bit longer than most people tended to and he was about to back out of the place and run... despite the fact she likely posed absolutely no threat to him. Then she bounced back to reality as quickly as she'd likely wandered out of it, and was bustling about to help him out. "No worries," Belial grinned at her, settling into the booth quickly and feeling almost bad about stealing her little napping spot. Luke reminded him that she was working and that he was the customer, and though it only placated Belial a little bit, it was enough to get him to stop worrying.
He flipped open the menu and took a peek at it, unsure of exactly what it was that sounded good. Bel usually didn't eat the food when he was up and about topside, and when he did it was usually after Dean had already ordered it. His eyes grazed the menu and then flickered around the empty restaurant. "Oh, I don't know... whatever you think is good. I'm not a picky eater and I trust your taste. Surprise me." He beamed up at her, and then, in a moment of kindness and obliviousness for the culture in this part of the world he decided to ask something else.
"If you're hungry..." He paused to look at her name tag with squinted eyes. "...Claire,you're welcome to join me. It's slow in here, and who knows how long you've been working. Might as well take a break while you can, huh?" The demon beamed up at her, scratching the back of his neck and shifting awkwardly in his seat. She was young and looked exhausted, so it just seemed fair to offer. He knew that humans tended to turn down offers of kindness, but it was worth a shot anyway. "Besides, I could use the company."

Just another manic monday A light blush covered her cheeks, a sign of her embarrassment as she quickly took up her position beside the table. The tip of her pen hovered over the clean bit of paper upon her pad as she awaited his order. What came next surprised the youth as her eyebrows rose a bit, no one had ever asked her to pick before, it was slightly shocking. For a moment Claire found herself a bit stunned, but it quickly passed in favor of a friendly smile as she looked at him. "Oh! Well then, lets see" The teen shifted a bit, moving to stand at his side as she looked over his shoulder at the menu. "We have great burgers, best in the area, of course that's just my opinion" A slight laugh ambled free from her lips as she straightened up and jotted down the order quickly. It was a nice change of pace, even she had to admit, having someone ask her that, and as an aspiring cook, it caused her a bit of pleasure. Just as she was about to turn back to the kitchen to put the order in, the male's next words caused her to pause and lift an eyebrow in clear surprise. "Oh...I uhm...I couldn't do that, I don't want to bother you" Claire smiled, even as she answered her gaze travelled around the diner. It was indeed a quiet evening, it wouldn't be noticeable if she did take a bit of a break and as he said, it was almost closing time as it was. "Well...." The youth began in a slow tone as she contemplated her response before offering up a smile and nod toward the male. "Alright, I could use something to eat anyway" A friendly laugh was given as the teen turned and headed behind the counter to put in the order along with another. Once that was done, the blonde grabbed a couple of glasses, filling them with soda before heading back to the booth and placing one in front of him along with a straw and slipping into the seat opposite him. "It shouldn't be to long, not like the cook has a whole lot of orders to fill, not this time of night anyway" Claire's smile was noticeable within her tone as the teen ripped off the paper of her own straw and sunk the circular tube within her soda and took a sip as she cast him a curious glance, unable to help herself as she did so. "So, sorry if this is kind blunt but....where are you from?" She questioned, pulling away from her drink to lean back against the seat of the booth as she spoke. "Couldn't help but notice the accent and I was just curious. Ya know, if you were new to the states and stuff" Her smile remained friendly as the teen easily struck up a polite conversation before waiting for the signal that the orders were ready for pick up.
