the innocence you stole from these eyes "It is possible," the once angel stated, the tone of his voice growing more and more stern as the conversation continued. He then gritted his teeth in an attempt to keep himself from snapping entirely. The few seconds he took to himself to regain composure were much needed. After taking in a few deep breaths Castiel deemed himself ready to carry on with the conversation. "You weren't there and if one doesn't have the entire story or isn't informed of the situation then one does not have the right to utter any statements. God is gone and that is the end of it." As his little speech continued, he could feel the anger rising inside of him. Letting go of the mug, the former seraph dropped his hands in his lap and balled them to fists. Whenever the topic of his Father was addressed, Cas always ... got carried away, if that was the right way to put it. It was a sensitive subject to touch upon, one he didn't want to discuss but every so often it arose. Mostly by accident but now, now was the time to let go of it. To let it rest and not answer any more questions. If he ignored the issue, then it would go away right? As he tried to push the thoughts away, Castiel's hands reached out once more, wrapping around the cup of coffee before he took a sip from the substance. It was still warm, somewhat, but he shouldn't wait much longer or it would be cold entirely. Silence dominated the conversation while he sipped from the black liquid, enjoying the warmth it spread throughout his whole body. To make himself even more comfortable, he leaned back in the booth, his gaze drifted off until he was looking outside. Bright blue eyes observed the people walking down the street, some of them stopping before the diner. A short exchange then took place after which some continued their path, others entered, longing for some food. He ... I ...Calmly Cas allowed his gaze to return to the teen opposite of him, his attention demanded once more. Patiently he then waited for her to continue. Taking another sip from his coffee he then heard her words. This was the moment to come clean. Or to keep up the appearance. There was no way he could bring Jimmy Novak back after all of this was done. The man had done his duty and his orders had been clear: his vessel had to rest in the fields of the Lord. He had earned his spot in Heaven. It was a simple lie to say he would never come back, that Castiel would claim him forever. It wasn't truly a lie: he simply hid the fact that her father had died a long time ago. Without noticing he nodded in agreement to her words. "That is correct. I'm sorry but he won't come back." The tone of his voice was soft, compassionate. He truly wished circumstances were different, that he didn't have to tell this here but ... Claire had chosen differently. Why do we scream at each other This is what it sounds like When doves cry ▼ The only sounds that could be heard were the ones of the various patrons of the diner as plates were scooted away, cutlery clipped against the dishes and the rumble of conversation. The sounds of the street beyond the window was dimmed thanks to the glass, a passing bus or cab would cause enough noise to pull through into the interior of the diner, but that was all but white noise to the teen as she stared at the figure before her. Claire listened in silence, her crystal colored eyes seemed glued upon his face as the words, the explanation that fell from his lips seemed to overtake her senses. The youth felt herself slip into a slight bit of shock as she struggled to find some sort of sentence to fill the silence. Her mind failed to pull together that long forward sentence as her emotions struggled within her mind.
There it was in simple English, the words seemingly hovering before her as if they were written in the air. He was gone. Of course Claire knew that the possibility of seeing her father again was slim, there was still that slight chance, that small bit of hope that she had always held onto. Now, it seemed that even that had disappeared, evaporating from her grasp as quickly as if they were made of steam. Her face paled, lips quivering and for several moments one would expect the youth to faint right then and there. Slender fingers curled into the fabric of her apron as she continued to sit in silence, letting the seraph's words circle round and round within her consciousness, trying to pull a different meaning from them then what was presented to her.
Slowly her fingers tighten into fists, her hands trembling as she kept her shocked gaze upon the male before slowly allowing it to lower to the table that sat between them. "I..." The sentence caught in within her throat as her breathing seemed to struggle to release from her lungs. Claire shook her head a little, keeping her gaze lowered as she tried to take a few slow and deep breaths, the last thing she wanted was to have an asthma attack in the middle of the diner. Her fists uncurled, her fingers gripping onto the edge of the table as she struggled a little to calm herself down.
"C-can't be..." The words were stammered, a gasp slipping between them as she continued to struggle against having an attack. "So he...took my place and n-now..." The sentence failed to come to completion as the blonde shook her head a little. "And he knew? He knew what was going to happen, that...we wouldn't see..." Once again her struggle to breath returned as the teen took a shaky breath and continued to try and calm down. "W-why? why did you pick us, why him?" Claire questioned with a small hiccup, as she tried not to cry. But, a single tear rolled down her cheek.

the innocence you stole from these eyes "He was aware of the consequences, yes." Perhaps it was a harsh thing to say but it was the truth. Castiel had warned Jimmy Novak for what would happen. When he was still an angel, in full possession of his powers and abilities, he had warned the male that whatever was about to come, would be much worse than anything he had felt so far. It wasn't an exaggeration when he had told Claire's father that the pain would increase a thousand times, compared to what he had experienced before. The stakes were high during that time, Cas knew that death would be sooner upon an individual than imagined. It wasn't long before his vessel was pulled apart in the fight with Raphael. There was practically nothing left of him, but somehow God managed to put him back together. But as soon as the seraph returned to the world of the living, he knew something was missing. Two entities inhabiting the same body, you felt the absence of your companion right away. It was then that it dawned on Castiel that Jimmy Novak was gone. For good. In an attempt to shake these thoughts, bright blue eyes darted through the diner. No one had taken notice of them, or at least not of the fact that one of the staff members had taken a break. His gaze jumped from one table to another. People were talking, laughs or giggles erupted every so often before it died down again. In the meantime the waiters and waitresses were running around, taking orders and delivering the food and drinks to the right tables. With their conversation turning more and more uncomfortable, Cas couldn't help the feeling that crept upon him: he wanted to leave. It hadn't been his intention to interrupt Claire's daily life. If anything, he didn't want to tell her about her father, about what happened to him and how he would never return to her or her mother. Yet she asked about it and now he was in doubt. It wasn't his fault that this was happening for the teenager had asked him the questions. Leaving her here would be a cruel thing to do but what other choice did he have? He couldn't change these facts. He did no longer have the power to do so. His attention was pulled back to the matter at hand when Claire asked him another question. "It's in your blood," he then stated calmly, as if it was the most normal thing to say. "Not everyone is able to contain a celestial being. Vessels are hard to find, for some people might explode upon allowing an angel to take possession of a body. Your family, your father and you, are immune to this." After speaking these words he leaned back and dug with his hand in his pocket. He then revealed a few dollars bills from which he took, what he thought, was enough to pay for the food. Once it was put on the table he took a last sip from his coffee and looked at Claire, wondering if there was anything left she wanted to say or ask. Why do we scream at each other This is what it sounds like When doves cry ▼ Claire sat in complete silence, her eyes lowered to the table top as the seraph spoke. Her mind traveled around, not wanting to focus completely on his words and yet unable to pull her attention completely away from him. Her fingers twisted and curled into themselves as she rested her hands upon her lap, her breathing was slow, even as the youth struggled to keep it that way. The last thing she wanted was to throw herself into a panic attack which would lead into an asthma attack in the middle of the diner. It was best to keep herself calm, or try to at any rate, the blonde listened to the various other sounds around them before letting her senses drift back to his words once again.
The fact that her father knew of the consequences of what would happen and still took them on was shocking to her. The memory of angelic possession was foggy within her mind. But the youth still remembered that in her innocence she had agreed to be the seraph's vessel. Now, she had discovered that her father had asked to be a vessel, ridding his only daughter of the task that would have undoubtedly have lead to her own death at some point in time. The information was immense, spinning about in her mind as she tried to make heads or tails of it. It was all to much and yet completely understandable; it was only logical that a father would want to protect his children, in this case, child. Claire gave a soft sniff, a tear managing it's way down her cheek before it was quickly brushed away as her gaze remained lowered.
The blonde remained silent as the seraph explained why it had to be her, why her father, her family. It was in their blood, it was something not even she had ever thought about. It was to simple to think that angels could just take on any vessel they wanted, but to think that a person had to be special was something that had never crossed her mind.
"Don't" Claire mumbled softly when she saw the money appear upon the table. She slowly brought her hand forward, fingertips landing upon the bills and silently pushing them across the table and back toward him. "I said it was on me and I meant it" The youth spoke as she drew her hand back to rest it upon her lap once more. A few moments of silence passing as she felt his eyes upon her, her own remaining lowered as she sat across from the seraph.
The teen wasn't planning on saying anything more, everything that needed to be said had been exchanged between the two. "Castiel" It wasn't only the sound of her own voice that surprised her, it was the fact that she had said his name. Never before had Claire spoken the seraph's name, not even within her own mind. It was a slow motion as her eyes lifted from the table top to land upon his. Her own blue irises, although Jimmy's eyes had a more vibrant hue to them then Claire's, it was still the one thing she had inherited from him. "He's dead, isn't he?" Claire questioned, even already knowing the answer to the question.
Another moment in time past as the youth slowly rose from her seat and started to gather up the dirty dishes, her motions slow and deliberate as another pearl shaped tear scrolled down her cheek. "Have a nice day" She mumbled before turning away and starting toward the kitchen, making up her mind that she would already leave work early.
